Gunshow Adventures

So Im at the gun show today Most hilarious thing ever happens to me.
>Looking at booths
>guy who "Specializes in Glocks" see's my G19, asks If Im 'selling it or looking to improve' it.
>Tell him Im looking to improve
>Talk about my new night sights
>Guy lets me see his G21
>Tells me to close the slide
>*I hit the slide release*
>Guy freaks out like I just killed an Infant or something
>Says "If that was a 1911 you'd be paying for that"
>allofmywat.jpg
>says "It damages the gun"
>I say "whatever dude"
>MFW I literally dry fire and handle my weapon all day long with no issues.

Im seriously tired of all these wimps with guns. They have freaking S&W .44 magnums that they baby like dropping the hammer on an empty cylinder is going to blow it up. If that was the case you should never fire that weapon.

Its almost as bad as the guys yesterday at the Sporting goods store waiting for ammo.

>5 middle aged men
>all talking about being CCW licensee's
>Not a piece on the one of them (and there was no way they could of concealed on either)
>talking about how hard the permit was to get
>talking about how they need to "defend their rights"
>Meanwhile I am the only person standing in line with a gun

I mean seriously, Is this who is left to be the Stewards of our rights?

Baby Boomers, what Happened to your Generation? Or did you guys just give up changing the world after you decided to rob my generation by placing your debt on us?

Gen X, Did you guys just get tired of being "edgy"? was that 80's thing not working out?

Millennial's with the oldest of us in their 30's and the youngest of us around 19-20 are we just going to sit around and let the mistakes of past generations destroy us? Are we going to go down so easy, without a fight? We are the ones with the voting power, and we will be the ones who will shape the future...

Get Educated, Base your opinions on FACT, not Emotions. Let the Constitution be your guide. Grab a clear cut set of ethics, and let those be your compass. Then go out and Vote, Take over the political parties, and take over office. If we want our country back the solution is just as the old adage says:

"If you want something done right, do it yourself"

Barrett M82A1 Review "Definitely Not A Backpack Gun"

The ubiquitous Barrett M92A1, notorious among gamers, shooters, and movie goers alike. The large black silhouette of this rifle has graced games like Call of Duty all the way to the fast paced action movies like "Shooter". This rifle is famous for being big, heavy, and poking big holes; and that It  not only does well but does so with class. The Barrett is not the kind of gun you pack on your quad and take hunting. Designated by the United States Military as an anti-material rifle this weapon was made to take out vehicles and lightly armored targets.

Weighing in around 30 lbs (before optics) this isn't exactly the kind of rifle that sees a lot of hiking in the civilian world. although it can be noted that when shooting this rifle off the bench that every ounce helps to "try to reduce recoil". In fact I would give an word of caution to anyone preparing to shoot this rifle. If you are used to shooting only a .223 or a .22 lr I would spend some time behind a shotgun to get used to heavier recoil. This is mainly due to the fact that the .50 BMG is meant to be shot from a weapon that Is mounted to an emplacement of some sort.

I found the 25 or so rounds that I put through the Barrett to be enjoyable. The M82 does push one back quite a bit but this can be mitigated simply by shooting while Standing with the rifle benched. While I can't exactly express how well this weapon does in the long range shooting I was shooting a meager 2 moa from the bench. Although with more time I may have been able to bring my groups in more. (I blame the shooter mostly)

The Barrett comes Standard with a 29 inch Bull barrel, muzzle brake, dual recoil springs, a chrome lined chamber, and a 27 MOA 1913 rail that runs most of the length of the receiver. also standard are Barrets flip up iron sights. Additions that can be purchased from Barrett are a monopod, bipod, and Leupold scope w/ rings. Out of the box this rifle is meant to be acurized; albeit this may take some time and the skill of a experience rifleman.

This is much more of a fun gun. I personally would not ever try to hike this one through the woods on a 3 day hike.  Anyways take from this what you will

Cheers guys

Glock 19 Gen 4 Review

Since august 2012 I have been carrying and shooting the Glock 19 Gen 4. As of the time of writing April 2013 I feel I have gathered sufficient Data to give a reasonable opinion on this weapon. First and foremost I would like to establish the carry conditions.

Typical conditions for carry were dusty, windy, and often dry hot days. While this weapon was subjected to rainy and snowy conditions no rust or corrosion was ever encountered. Wear on the receiver of this weapon was definitely instigated by the sand that often got stuck in the Serpa and Fobus holsters.

As is well known about all Gen 4 Glocks they Sport the dual recoil spring, enlarged/ambi mag release, replaceable backstraps, and the different texture on the grip itself. At the core of this weapon It is a Glock and most previous Glock reviews will sum up how these pistols work. My experience with Glocks has been that they are amazingly utilitarian pistols. They feed any ammunition that is given to the weapon and have rarely jammed when handled correctly.

What polymer guns bring to the table is a lightweight high capacity weapon in the caliber it is chambered in. for a long time There has been the concern of excessive recoil due to the light weight of these handguns. This is where the gen 4's come in. The addition of the dual captive recoil spring, a notable feature of the baby Glocks. The addition of these recoil springs has lowered overall perceived recoil by slowing the unlock time of the slide (as noted by Massad Ayoob.) While I havent noticed any significant change in accuracy to these handguns because of this It has been reported in other shooters that this has effected their accuracy.

This weapon is excellent for both concealed and open carry. I spend most of my time carrying this weapon open. whats nice about the size of the 19 is that while it isn't too small as a duty carry piece It is still small enough that it can be concealed on the fly or even as a primary concealed piece. As stated before this my typical carry holster was the Blackhawk Serpa paddle holster I had no issues concealing with heavier clothing but I did have trouble with tshirts and shorts. Overall printing was not a terrible issue.

The Glock itself can be expected to perform like a Glock, The only way I was able to simulate jams with this weapon was either by intentionally limp wristing, or by overlubing the weapon. (Glocks are very sensitive to oil, it is best to use some sort of grease like froglube or other similar products or run it without oil.)

If you are looking for a daily carry gun you cannot beat a Glock 19; its light, fairly concealable, and fairly accurate. Suggested accessories for this weapon are:

>Upgraded sights: the Glock factory sights are alright for beginners but are far from perfect. I suggest some 3 dot night sights or steel target sights.
>Weapon light: Any carry gun or nightstand gun is not complete without some sort of light. having a weapon light like a surefire x200 is definitely a force multiplier because it lets you control your lighting conditions.
>beavertail backstraps: Glock has recently unveiled their own OEM beavertail backstraps. If you like the hight tang grip these will aid in shooting.

This weapon is fun to shoot, If you don't have one by now you should take a trip to your FFL and pick one up. Even if it doesn't become a carry gun it is still a good range toy.

A Letter To The State Of New Mexico Regarding HB 402

To The House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee & House Judiciary Committee,

I would like to come in opposition of any ban on standard capacity (being what a weapon was designed to hold) or extended magazines ( typically created after the initial design of the weapon, specifically to 'extend' the weapons original capacity). Basically the flaw in logic here is that some how having a specific number of rounds in a weapon will make it more deadly than others.... how is this? The Army had no problem slaughtering the people at wounded knee with what we would call antiquated weapons now. Stalin had no issue attacking Berlin to defeat Hitler with an 'uneducated' force, armed mostly with what are $100 bolt action rifles in today's currency. Anders Brevik had no issue slaughtering all those people in Finland with his Ruger Mini-14 with the 10 round magazines (Finland has a ban on magazines with higher capacities than 10 rounds). The Issue here is not how many rounds a gun can hold, It is totally irrelevant, James Holmes showed in Colorado that Despite having a 100 round Beta Magazine for his AR-15 that simply having a high cap magazine does not mean that you will kill alot of people. Instead most of the injuries sustained in that shooting were from his 12 gauge Remington 870 shotgun. I am not trying to belittle tragedy here, but what I am trying to do is preserve the Rights of the people.

DC vs. Heller (2006), concluded that Every American Citizen has the right to defend themselves. In our state we have provisions for both concealed carry of firearms, and open carry of firearms. How would this effect us? quite simply It would take popular semi-auto handguns and It would limit the ability of the person to defend themselves. My Glock 19; a fairly common handgun owned by both civilians and law enforcement holds 15 rounds. It does not hold 15 rounds by having some sort of extended feeding device, or even through a magazine that sticks way out of the bottom, nor was it even redesigned to hold that many rounds. Simply its what the grip of the handgun provided for. By passing a 'New York Style' magazine ban what will really be accomplished? you took the same gun and put less rounds in the magazine. We have already seen that a midst a full 'assault weapons ban' that Brevik simply carried more magazines. Adding any more laws into the pot will achieve nothing Our state is a shining example of what having an armed populace will achieve Despite the number of weapons per citizen we still have much lower gun deaths than many other states. Why is this? Because the law abiding have the ability to protect themselves.

Taking rounds out of the hands of the law abiding is NOT your job. Neutering the law abiding under the guise of 'public safety' is a far cry from what your actual position as an elected official is. Your Job is to uphold the constitution and ensure that this country moves towards the will of the people within the rule of law. If you have a problem with the second amendment, then I suggest you make a motion to amend it on the federal level and at that point let it be decided by the people. Until then you are bound by the rule of law just like the rest of us. Subverting rule of law and waiting for the supreme court to neuter laws is NOT how the founding fathers intended this country to be run.

In short it has been said by many of the law abiding citizens who have had enough of states and other entities trying to legislate our rights away. "If you outlaw our rights... we will be outlaws" Laws are nothing more than a mutual agreement written down on paper. They dictate behavior, but as a word of caution. King George took us down this path before, and although Colorado, New York, and other states may have 'passed' laws similar to this they know full well these are not constitutional. "Presser v. Illinois, 116 U.S. 252 (1886), was a decision of the Supreme Court of the United States holding that the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution limited only the power of Congress and the national government to control firearms, not that of the state."

I could go further here but we would both be wasting our time. In short any infringement of the second amendment is Illegal, and unconstitutional based on already made Supreme court cases. I urge that we take a look into enforcing already established laws and keeping repeat offenders in Jail. What we need to do is give crimes with a deadly weapon felony treatment and throw these offenders away for 10 years or more. Enforce laws like these and we will see improvements in our violence numbers. Also,we need to work on improving our mental health system, Adam Lanza was denied a weapon when he went to buy one. This means we can stop the point of sale. Adding things like universal background checks as we have already concluded will not work simply because we cannot enforce them universally.

Lastly, we need to get rid of our Politically correct attitude and call a spade a spade. We need to encourage people in this state to say something if they see something going on, we have a culture that tolerates violence but refuses to speak up to stop it. This is not just on the domestic violence level, but in regards to mental health and criminal activity.

Gun Owners are friends to the law abiding and the just; We are the Militia, and the keepers of our fine state. If you force us to become outlaws in this state we will become just that. We have already spoken.

Gun Companies Refuse Sales to State Governments with Strict Gun Laws

Gun Companies Refuse Sales to State Governments with Strict Gun Laws:

This is awesome, Gun companies are standing for all of our rights by refusing sales to LEO and state entities. I have heard from some pundits that this may have little to no effect on the political arguement... but we need to look closer at what is happening here. Simply by standing up it shows Other companies that they need to step in line with whats going on. In short we will not see any serious backlash from government until ammunition suppliers, ALL firearms companies (I'm talking to you COLT DEFENSE, SIG USA, FNH USA, Cerberus/freedom arms group), and Gear manufacturers tow the line and cease all sales to government entities. When this happens It will truely force State reps and senators to listen to their constituents and DEFEND the constitution that they SWORE to defend.
